Aberdeen City is a council area and Scotland's third-largest city, situated between the mouths of the rivers Dee and Don on the North Sea coast. Aberdeen had a population of approximately 228,000 at the 2022 Census and is widely known as the "Granite City" for the pale grey granite used to construct much of its historic centre, which glitters with flecks of mica on sunny days, earning it the additional nickname "the Silver City with the Golden Sands."
